Frequently Asked Questions
What does travel insurance cover?
Travel insurance coverage can be grouped into three main categories: financial reimbursement, travel medical coverage, and 24-hour assistance. The most common type of travel insurance claim is the financial type. Depending on your policy benefits, you can submit a claim for costs incurred due to things like needing to cancel your trip (for a covered reason), trip delay or interruption, missed connections, or lost baggage.
Travel medical coverage is an especially important benefit if you’re travelling abroad and your everyday health insurance may not or won’t cover you. Many plans also have emergency medical evacuation available, which can arrange and pay for medical transportation to a hospital or even to your home if it’s medically necessary.
What does travel insurance not cover?
While travel insurance can provide coverage for a wide range of unexpected events, it’s important to know what’s not included. Be sure to read the specific details of your policy. Generally speaking, travel insurance won’t cover anything that doesn’t fall under “unforeseen circumstances”.
Does Butter travel cover COVID-19?
Butter travel insurance includes cover as standard for medical expenses caused by or resulting from COVID-19.
Butter travel insurance includes optional cover for Cancellation and Trip Interruption. If selected, this option extends cover to events caused by or resulting from COVID-19. Claims will be paid up to the amount shown in your Certificate of Insurance and subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.
How much does it cost?
The cost can vary based upon your age, destination, chosen limits and trip length, amongst other variables.
